January 2026 – A holiday Break

The Halloween Retrospect takes a holiday from the holidays in January 2026 visiting Mexico as seen in this Dia de Los Muertos decor on the balcony of a ocean-side tourist shop.

THR loves a world view of festivities, even on vacation, and snapped this photograph of Dia de Los Muertos decor on the faux balcony of a tourist shop in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.

Note: as in Ghosts of Christmas Past this post offers a bit of catching up…

Hello. Happy New Year! And here is hoping you too can step from the stereotypical concern for holidaysin terms of days on which ordinary business is suspended in commemoration of some event like Halloween, Christmas, etc… to enjoy that other wonderful definition: a period of cessation from work or one of recreation – also known as vacation!

As for the spirit behind THR – the archive librarian recently enjoyed travel to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico (taking a break from THR in January 2026). And while most (not all) photos made it to recent posts at a more arty feed @relationary.bower – only one (above) made it to THR because of the Dia de los Muertos theme. The remaining photos (not all) are available to browse (below) and note for those into H. P. Lovecraft, you may just enjoy Slide 6 (2nd presentation below) offering a couple of photos of The Rotunda of the Sea (1996) by Alejandro Colunga (as seen along The Malecón):
