The Halloween Retrospect
and Vintage Christmas 2025

As seen in this Beistle mid-century sample (above) THR’s library has ~650 merchandise catalogs helpful to those who research other product histories like Christmas, Easter, etc.
Uhm, so yeah… this Christmas post is going to show a December 2025 publication date – but in actuality is being cobbled together the second month of 2026. Why? Well, even THR takes a holiday… and sometimes, in case of the this post and the next, THR needs a holiday from holidays. However, if you follow @halloweenretrospecs on Instagram (or on facebook)… you see THR is not always asleep in the shelves. Following is a quick review…
As indicated from the image above, The Halloween Retrospect archive library has ~650 vintage primary sources not solely stuck on October festivities. In fact, THR is most eager to share other types of product history with those seeking data about vintage Christmas, Easter, etc., or carnival supply, toys, etc., or even mundane goods like clothing, tools, etc. So, in a nutshell the hope is to find those who would love to partake in data trades…!!! Perhaps you too want to extend accurate source data (with minor expense) and would like to exchange certain catalogs, pamphlets, or fliers that contain Halloween for content sitting here unattended? If so, don’t hesitate to reach out to THR.
Here is a couple of catalog samplers posted back in December 2025 @halloweenretrospecs :

Royalite 906 “Santa’s Coming to Town” from around 1954 as seen in their catalog of that year… (which you can see on the blow-molded website).
A third IG post is below perhaps for the Charlie Brown-iest of us who don’t partake in the instagram-able “lights and display contest” seen elsewhere. Of course, more power (or Hz) to those who create such stunningly maximalist displays… but THR leans toward research more so than visual hype (mostly).
First, the post gives a quiet nod to THR’s small collection of vintage Christmas (mostly lighting) in the first few slides with images of Royalite 906 “Santa’s Coming to Town” from around 1954 as seen in a company catalog of that year… (see Catalogs on blowmolded.com). The latter slides, for any reaching them, are snuck in for those who might enjoy a mid-century style non-maximalist setting… just an aluminum Christmas tree with a light or two… and one auggie doggy who loves this time of year scoping out presents.
Happy (belated) Holidays from THR!

THR’s Etsy shop offers one list of all six books – Halloween Artifacts, V!: Lighting with Halloween Artifacts, V2 Festoons as well as The Halloween Retrospect V1, V2, V3, V4.
In closing this post, THR would mention Etsy end-of-year listing updates (as single listing or as groups), and a moment on IG that THR looked back at a cathedral window created by Bindlegrim as an homage to faux stained-glass decorations produced by Milton Bradley (1940’s). Those of olden times were originally released with a Christmas theme (see below):
While all such ventures are great fun, it also requires a ton of time for a one-JOL business — to research, write, edit, photograph, illustrate, design (@bindlegrim), stock, promote, package, and ship. Your purchases truly supports these labors – and by result has allowed all to discover much more about the antique and vintage Halloween market! THR now has a six-book library for you! These include two art-book-style surveys Halloween Artifacts, V!: Lighting and Halloween Artifacts, V2 Festoons as well as four article-based digests The Halloween Retrospect Volume 1, Volume 2, Volume 3, Volume 4 .

THR’s Etsy shop offers a combination listing that includes all four research digests The Halloween Retrospect Volume 1, Volume 2, Volume 3, Volume 4.

THR’s Etsy shop offers a combination listing that includes just the two recent art-survey books Halloween Artifacts, V!: Lighting (about lanterns, shades, and glow-in-dark diecuts) together withHalloween Artifacts, V2 Festoons (about garlands, centerpieces, and costume pieces).

Above is screenshot of THR’s Etsy shop selling Halloween Artifacts, V!: Lighting and Halloween Artifacts, V2 Festoons and digests (The Halloween Retrospect V1, V2, V3, V4).
